At its meeting on 29 August 2019, the Council of the Swiss Federation of Protestant Churches (SEK) decided to favor the opening of marriage for same-sex couples at civil law level. The Council has also decided to recommend to the member churches of the Federation of Churches to take on any extended civil law concept of marriage as a prerequisite for the church wedding.
The freedom of conscience for pastors regarding the church wedding for same-sex couples should be preserved in the regulations of the member churches, so the proposal of the Council to the member churches on. He recommends registering the wedding of same-sex couples in the marriage registers and making them liturgically the same as the wedding of heterosexual couples.
The Assembly of Delegates held in June 2019 that the diversity of sexual orientation reflects the fullness of the divine act of creation: "We are of God as we are created. We can not choose our sexual orientation. We perceive it as an expression of creaturely abundance. »

Rat des Kirchenbundes befürwortet die Öffnung der Ehe für gleichgeschlechtliche Paare
Der Rat des Schweizerischen Evangelischen Kirchenbundes SEK hat in seiner Sitzung vom 29. August 2019 beschlossen, die Öffnung der Ehe für gleichgeschlechtliche Paare auf zivilrechtlicher Ebene zu befürworten. Der Rat hat zudem entschieden, den Mitgliedkirchen des Kirchenbundes zu empfehlen, einen allfällig erweiterten zivilrechtlichen Ehebegriff als Voraussetzung für die kirchliche Trauung zu übernehmen.
Die Gewissensfreiheit für Pfarrerinnen und Pfarrer bezüglich der kirchlichen Trauung für gleichgeschlechtliche Paare sollte in den Reglementen der Mitgliedkirchen gewahrt bleiben, so der Vorschlag des Rates an die Mitgliedkirchen weiter. Er empfiehlt, die Trauung gleichgeschlechtlicher Paare in die Trauregister einzutragen und sie liturgisch gleich zu gestalten wie die Trauung heterosexueller Paare.
