The Legal Affairs Committee of the Council of States yesterday approved without opposition the plan of the Federal Council to facilitate the change of sex. This should be done "without bureaucratic complications", that is to say without legal proceedings or medical examination, by simple declaration to the municipality. Pre-existing marriages and partnerships will no longer be dissolved automatically and parentage links will be preserved.
Minors, on the other hand, would be required to obtain the agreement of their legal representative, a controversial condition given possible conflicts with the parents. Only the voice of the President of the Commission tipped the scales in favor of this provision, which a minority wants to delete. Read more via 360
